How It Started

My family opened Sweet Dreams Mattresses and More after we lost our used-furniture and antique business to a roof-inflicted fire. Shortly after my parents recovered, they decided that our area needed a mattress selection retail store. They opened in 2002 with a mere 15-bed selection. While I (Keith) would attend school at UNCP (Pembroke) would work when I wasn't at school. After receiving my Bachelors in Marketing, I was asked to take over the family business in 2011 and I happy accepted as Sweet Dreams Mattresses and more has grown with the support of our local community to what it is today.

Opportunity Out of Tragedy

In 2016, my wife Darla and I saw a huge need to help families that lost everything to Hurricane Matthew. Families moved back in with no furniture or mattresses and we saw this as an opportunity to reach out and help. For nearly every mattress delivery from Sweet Dreams, we noticed 90% of the time we would remove an old mattress and take it to a dump. With about 70-80% of mattresses in great shape, we did not feel right throwing them out while families were sleeping on the floor. So we took action. We saved up about 300 mattress sets and distributed them with free delivery to families in Lumberton, NC and the surround affected towns. Dreams 4 All Foundation was then formed and has become a developing program for those in need to reach out too for a used mattress.

Moving Forward

To date, we have delivered nearly 8,000 mattress sets to local families in needs. We have many local nonprofits that refer us to families as they transition into stable homes. This has truly been our passion and to be able to make a difference has touched us beyond words.
